Your secret crush, FATHER JOHN MISTY (FJM), is heading to Laneway in 2018. Since
2012, the artiste has unexpectedly emerged as a singular voice. Whether by virtue of his lyrics, which routinely defy the presumed polarities of wit and empathy or his live performances which may perhaps be best described as “intimately berserk”, or the infuriating line he seems to occupy between canny and total fraught online or in interviews, FJM has cultivated a rare space for himself in the musical landscape – that of a real enigma.

The alias of singer-songwriter Josh Tillman, FJM has released three widely acclaimed albums – Fear Fun (2012), I Love You, Honeybear (2015) and Pure Comedy (2017) – plus his recent single, ‘Ballad of the Dying Man’. The artiste’s latest album, Pure Comedy, is a complex, often sardonic and equally touching meditation on the confounding folly of modern humanity. He is a sarcastic and caustic, yet sincere voice for the post-internet age.
